Putty For Mac Serial Connection6/29/2021
So my problem is that i am currently working on a project and therefore have to use Putty to connect my router with my computer.
Putty Serial Connection Serial Data BitsAll settings should be right, but to be sure i will write them down: serial line: COM3 speed: 115200 bauds connection type: serial data bits: 8 stop bits: 1 parity: none flow control: none So at first these settings worked fine for me, but all of a sudden the terminal just stayed blank. It didnt react to anything i typed in (mainly because i couldnt even type something in). I checked the connection to the FTDI adapter i am using, and as i can tell, everything should be fine. If i press keys on my keyboard, the little lamp is flashing, so that means the connection from the FTDI to my computer is alright. It just seems that the terminal program is not getting any information from my router. I am working on an important project to hack my current internet router, and therefore necessarily have to use putty (Windows etc.) Thanking you in anticipation, Max. Is this with a USB-Serial adapter or are you using a serial port directly. I do know that USB-Serial adapters fail ALL THE FREAKING time;) Do you have another device that you can test your USB serial adapter with putty on to verify that it works. I have talked with a few experts in a german forum about this. I want to hack the router, and therefore i needed to solder the connection, but that is alright. However, the majority of USB-to-serial converters produce 5 volts at the serial end. It may be that the boards serial drivers have been destroyed by overvoltage. So you think the problem is the converter itself or the cable. For instance Coriant equipment does not have the same pinout as what Cisco uses and so when I need to console into Coriant I have to make a pigtail cable to convert the wires.
